Notes on a New Season
The moment the calendar turned, the summer season officially kicked into high gear, bringing a wave of long days, patio sessions, and cultural milestones that define our neighborhoods. Across our hotels, the focus is entirely on the immediate, evolving cultural momentum right outside our doors as we create intentional, one-of-one spaces where neighborhood energy and independent spirit collide. In a month packed with reasons to gather, here is how our properties are mapping out the season.
Vinyl, Bourbon, & Brunches
For Father’s Day, the focus is on analog slowing down, real connection, and menus shaped directly by local crossover.. In Tampa, an Ybor-inspired dinner atmosphere awaits at Hotel Haya, featuring a prime rib special and a nostalgic vinyl soundtrack experience curated in collaboration with The Music Bureau. Hotel Heron is turning its Alexandria rooftop into a Father’s Day escape: Take a seat for Dad’s Day Off, a Maker’s Mark partnership with bespoke bourbon cocktails, specialty burgers, a custom wax-dipping experience, and a vinyl pop-up shop courtesy of Rhythm Lingo Records. Up north, Detroit Foundation Hotel is turning the entire block into a multi-format celebration. Their Fathers at the Foundation activation brings together a Third Man Records mobile vinyl shop, a live vinyl brunch DJ, a tailoring workshop with Dandy Detroit, and a family content booth—all kicking off with a riverside fun run.
If a relaxed rhythm is more your speed, look toward the month’s live music and culinary collaborations. Populus Seattle partners with the Seattle Jazz Fellowship for Jazz Brunch, featuring a live performance by Jaqueline Tabor alongside smooth lounge jazz programming. In Des Moines, Surety Hotel plans a double-header of culinary connection via a limited-time Dad Bod Burger + Bourbon pairing, and an elevated, celebratory version of Sunday brunch.
For those looking to trade a quiet tempo for collective energy, Crossroads Hotel in Kansas City leans into the collective energy of the global pitch with Pitch + Chips, a dedicated watch party complete with keg service and elevated game-day food specials.
Stories & Celebrations
Beyond the Father’s Day festivities, June is time to make space for the communities, histories, and joyful expressions that shape our neighborhoods.
At Crossroads Hotel in Kansas City, the thread of collective storytelling runs through the entire month—starting with SOAKIE’S WAS HOME, an immersive Pride exhibition pairing community archive collaborations with analog projections to tell powerful stories of Black queer history, and carrying directly into Juneteenth with From Africa with Love, a vibrant rooftop celebration integrating visual art, oral histories, and an African diasporic DJ experience. It’s the kind of hyper-local programming that naturally pulls travelers into something real because it was built for the neighborhood first. For a different perspective during Pride weekend, Minneapolis’ Hewing Hotel moves the social atmosphere to the roof, where their Suns Out Buns Out pool party brings a high-energy soundtracked by a live performance from DJ SHIEK.
That same spirit of community and local crossover continues down in Alexandria. Hotel Heron captures pure summer nostalgia with a rooftop Juneteenth Ice Cream Social, partnering with local, Black-owned neighborhood favorite MMM Goodies alongside a live set by DJ Bundy. By the time the month winds down, the spotlight shifts to the next generation of creators as Hotel Haya hosts La Galería, a Student Juried Exhibition in partnership with HCC Art Galleries to showcase emerging talent.
From slow afternoons on the patio to deep dives into local history, the summer season is officially underway. We’ll see you in the neighborhood.
